this series is the name index cards. The cards are arranged alphabetically by
name and subject. Each card has the name or subject at the top of the card,
file number on the left of the card and brief description of the file under the
subject heading.
The Establishment and Finance Branch, Registry section of
Treasury, created theses index cards. This series has been micro filmed for
reference purposes.
Using the series
The material in consignment one only of this series was microfilmed
for reference purposes. Consignment two of this series was not microfilmed.
Consignment three and four constitute the master and duplicating copy microfilm
respectively. Consignment five houses the reference microfilm to be used to
view this material. Consignment six is a back up reference copy.
System of arrangement and control
A single number has been imposed at box level by the
National Archives of Australia. The first consignment subject index cards are
arranged alphabetically. The card entries range from A.A.M.C. Units to
Whiteway. The second consignment consists of four boxes and the cards are
arranged alphabetically. The card entries range from Abbotsford – Zyglarski.
This series appears to be the amalgamation of two index card sets. The first
set ranged between 1919-1953 and the second 1954-1959. When amalgamated the
cards were sorted into alphabetical order.
