This series consists of correspondence and other papers relating to Federal general elections since 1980. Much of the material was collected by Mr Hawke's secretary. The files include speeches and briefing notes for campaign appearances, reports on opinion poll research, circulars from Australian Labor Party headquarters and other material relating to campaigning undertaken by Mr Hawke.

This series includes congratulatory messages to Mr Hawke from within Australia and around the world on election wins.

The series was transferred in part in April 1999 to the custody of the University of South Australia, Adelaide, for use in the Robert Hawke Ministerial Library.  Items that were transferrerd are 1, 3, 8, 11-13, 15, 26-28, 31-31, 35, 38, 40-43, 45-46, 51, 53-54, 57-60 and 107-114.
