In March 1973 a number of existing research units were regrouped to form research Division known collectively as the Land Resources Laboratory. One unit to be formed was the Division of Plant Industry and Soils. Its role is the development of management techniques for achieving optimum productivity consistent with conservation of land resources. It will also study the environmental implications of changes in land use.
The Division of Land Resources Management resulted from an overall re-organisation of existing research units in 1973. The primary research objectives of this Division is to study the physical, biological, economic and social factors which will promote the husbanding of our land and water resources. It does not manage resources but provides information from which other bodies (Government, land developers, land owners) can develop management plans for arid, agricultural, forest and near urban areas.Historical agency address
