The agency was created by the Administrative Arrangements Order of 29 May 2019. From 1 February 2020 this agency became an Executive Agency within the Social services portfolio.

Additional information

The AAO of 29/5/2019 notes the transfer of responsibility for whole of government service delivery from the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio to Services Australia; under the AAO of 5 December 2019 and effective from the 1 February 2020 the agency became an Executive Agency within the Social Services portfolio.
