This series of control records was created by the Department of Defence Records Disposal Section presumably at the time the records were being prepared for transfer.  The index cards are arranged according to the unit and then within that grouping by the primary number of the file.  Under each primary number the specific file titles are listed, with a red mark alongside the item indicating that the file has been transferred to AWM custody.  These cards provided the same information as the lists compiled by the Department of Defence.
