Duplicate RecordSearch entry for item 1945/244 in series A571

Descriptive note

 A571/62 45/244 Post-Hostilities Section – Department of External Affairs [barcode 11210693] and A571/158 1945/244 Post-Hostilities Section – Department of External Affairs [barcode 134114] are the same item. Barcode 134114 should be used to request the item because it now properly belongs to consignment A571/158.

The duplication of RecordSearch entries appears to have arisen after the item was re-sentenced by the Department of Finance. The item had been sent back to Finance as part of consignment A571/62, but came back into National Archives custody as part of consignment A571/158/

A decision was made by Arrangement and Description in April 2005 not to cancel the duplicate registration because of the item’s lending history prior to and after re-sentencing.
