Description of series:
Manual of instructions concerning hostel housekeeping, catering, and accounting procedures.  The section on accounting has a number of amendments and addenda.  There are indexes to the sections on housekeeping and catering.
 
History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
Prior to transfer: This draft manual was prepared by the Migrant Workers' Accommodation Division of the Department of Labour and National Service. This Division was abolished in Jan.1952 and its functions were taken over by Commonwealth Hostels Ltd.  This copy was apparently held among the personal papers of Mr. E.R. Toms, Assistant Secretary, (Admin.) Department of Labour and National Service, who retired in 1958.  It was transferred to archival custody from the Central Registry of the department.
