This series consists primarily of registration and movement books for correspondence files held in CRS D596.  The first volume (only) is embossed 'Docket Reference Book'; with entries in columns headed Number of Docket (file), Name of Writer, Subject, To whom Forwarded, Date, and Date when Returned to Collector.  Entries are dated from 26 June 1902 to 11 August 1903.

Subsequent volumes are (initially) embossed 'Reference Book', with columns headings limited to No. (annual single), Letter (initials only), and Reference (to whom referred, initials and date).  The first book in this format is dated from 1 June 1905.

Later books record movements of files registered up to and including 1956.  The final entry is file 56/7109, although there are references to transfers of papers up to 1965.  Books from c1927 are marked with 'Destroyed' stamps against file entries, with most recent books indicating almost all files as destroyed.
