Summary heading

Function and purpose

This series of index cards is broken into four sections - passport warning lists, passport administration, general enquiries and applications. Each section, generally, gives details as follows: file reference, date, name and subject. The passport warning section is arranged alphabetically by name but the other three sections are arranged chronologically. This series ceased to be used during 1947 when the Department of Immigration took over this function fully from the Collector of Customs in South Australia.
