Series note |
This series consists of personal case files of applications made for Repatriation Benefits by members who served in the Korean conflict. These members have undergone a period of service which exposed them to risks above the normal conditions of peace time. The areas and the time period in which they served have been designated as carrying entitlement for Repatriation Benefits.
These areas include - Korea - including the waters contiguous to the coast of Korea for the distance of 185 km seaward.
- Japan
- Malaya - including the waters contiguous to the coast of Malaya for a distance of 185 km seaward.
The time period in which service occured, awarding members
Repatriation Benefits is from 27th June 1950 - 27th May 1963. For successful applications a number of part files were raised which included "C", "M", "H", "MB", "HB".
"C" part files - details entitlements and appeals, reviews of pension documents relating to the processing of payment of benefits.
"M" part files - A medical treatment file containing details of service medical history. The treatment and subsequent medical treatment, with the exception of hospital treatment at the Repatriation is included.
"MB" part files- These have the same function as the "M" part file, but relate to the dependents of the veteran.
"H" part files - This is a clinical treatment file, (or Repatriation Hospital file).
"HB" part files - This has the same function as the "H" part file but relate to the dependents of the veteran.
The series has a single number system of arrangement and was originally controlled by a register (numerical), file movement cards (numerical) and index cards (alphabetical by surname of veteran.) Now index cards (CRS B33) and file movement cards (now destroyed) have been replaced by an E.D.P. system. The register(CRS B30) is still in use.
