This series consists of files raised for trust fund arrangements for veterans unable to look after their own interests, usually because of theirmental state or because of advanced age.
While the pensioners are alive the files record matters connected with payments made on their behalf to institutions or relatives. The money is paid from the trust account and includes allowances for comforts, tobacco, and visitors, and regular payments for care. Individual accounts for items such as clothing are also dealt with on these files. After the pensioner's death, items on file are concerned with establishing the number of relatives who, under the terms of the legislation, can participate in the disbursement of the trust fund. It also contains material relating to the apportioning of money to relatives and to thereceiver of Public Money.
File covers usually consist of plain brown folders stamped with "Reg. 9" or "Reg. 49" as appropriate and endorsed with the trustee's name. Some cases involve the provisions of both regulation 9 of the Australian Soldiers Repatriation Regulations, and regulation 49 of the RepatriationAct, and the covers are endorsed to this effect.
Prior to about 1970 Trust fund files were transferred to Archives along with the pension ("C") file, but it would appear that the files existed as a separate series from about 1943.
