This series consists of coloured index cards which relate to A1502 and A1503. Some cards also refer to CRS A4308.
Cards referring to names of non-government organisations and individuals were integrated into the main index to CRS A431. This also occurred with the nominal index cards. These cards record the name of the person requesting the information, date (not recorded on all cards), file number and subject of request.
Cards are arranged lexicographically and each section is divided by an identifying tabbed divider card.
Although the last card in this series is in a company name it is the only one found in the series as all other cards are names of people.
This series was discontinued in 1988 and further information keyed into the computerised central registry system.
Custodial History
From its founding in 1913 til 1989, the Commonwealth Government administered the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). In 1989 ACT self-government came into effect. As a consequence, some archives that were created by the Commonwealth Government administration of the ACT and thus in the custody of the National Archives, were transferred to the ownership of the ACT Government.
As part of this transferral, this series was withdrawn from Archives' custody in October 1994.
