Mr Steve Sedgwick was Senior Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister for three years until his resignation in September 1988. He came to the position in 1985 after his predecessor Dr Ross Garnaut became Australian Ambassador to China. Prior to this appointment Mr Sedgwick was with the Economic and Social Policy Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet for a short period during 1984/1985.  
Mr Sedgwick resigned from the position of Senior Economic Advisor and took up the position of Deputy Secretary of the Department of Finance on 9 September 1988.
