Peter Francis Johnson was born on 27 August 1943 at Sydney, New South Wales. He was educated at Downlands (Toowoomba); Marist Brothers, Ashgrove and Riverview, Sydney.
Prior to 1975 he was a wholesaler and exporter in the manufacturing industry as well as holding various management positions in the garment and textile industries for fourteen years.
From 1974-1976 Johnson was Chairman of the Liberal Party Central Branch (Queensland Division) and Vice-Chairman of the Liberal Party Brisbane Area (Queensland Division) from 1975-1976.
In 1975 and 1977 he was elected to the House of Representatives for Brisbane. Since then Johnson has served on three committees: from 1 April 1976-26 May 1976 on the Joint Parliamentary on Parliamentary Committee System (CA 3176); from 1 March 1978 on the House of Representatives Standing Committee - House Committee; and from 14 March 1978 on the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Road Safety (CA 3177).
His interests are: swimming, squash, debating and classical music; and is a member of the clubs: Brisbane, United Service, BATC and Italo-Australia Centre.
