Creation
The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science was established under the Administrative Arrangements Orders of 21 September 2015 signed by the Governor General, Sir Peter Cosgrove. The new department took over all responsibilities of the former Department of Industry and Science (CA 9515).
In the Administrative Arrangements Order of 20 December 2017 the Department was described as (Part of the Jobs and Innovation Portfolio)
In the Administrative Arrangements Order of 28 August instructions were given: Omit the heading :THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND SCIENCE (Part of the Jobs and Innovation Portfolio) and substitute THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND SCIENCE
