The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology was established by Resolution of the House on
24 September 1987.
Under the Standing and Sessional Orders the Committee shall consist of 12 members with membership reflecting the proportion of
Government to Opposition members in the House. The Committee may be supplemented with up to 3 members for a particular inquiry.
Government members are to be nominated by the Government Whip or Whips and Opposition members are to be nominated by the Opposition Whip or Whips.
Membership of the Committee as at December 1988 was as follows: Mr Beddall (Chairman); Mr Baldwin, Mr Cunningham, Mr Grace, Mr Hawker, Mr Hunt, Mr Lloyd, Mr McArthur, Mr Mildren, Mr A A Morris, Dr Theophanus, Dr Wooldridge (Members).
As at December 1988, the current inquiries were: Marketing of elaborate transformed manufactures and traded services; Problems facing small business.
On 8 December 1998, the Committee was renamed as the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Resources.
