The Cunningham Laboratory at St Lucia was opened in 1959, extended in 1965 and again in 1970.
The Cunningham Laboratory has facilities for work in plantintroduction and genetic resources, plant genetics and breeding, the ecology and agronomy of crops and pastures, plant bio-chemistry, plant physiology, plant nutrition, legume bacteriology and animal nutrition.
Other facilities include glasshouses, controlled environment rooms, automated chemical analytical services, an agricultural library with emphasis on tropical texts and a computer node linked to CSIRONET in Canberra.
