The Committee was formed on 23 July 1974 and its original members were A W James (Chairman), Senators J B Keeffe, G T McLaren, The Hon J E Marriott, J J Webster and, from the House of Representatives, Messrs S E Calder, J FitzPatrick, C R Kelly and L G Wallis. Clerk to the Committee was C Boorman.
