The High
Commission in Vanuatu (formerly the New Hebrides) commenced on in January 1978
with the appointment of Mr William N Fisher its first resident High
Commissioner, during the country's independence celebrations (1).

Vanuatu, prior to
independence on 30 July 1980, was formerly for New Hebrides, a condominium
under the joint administration of Britain and France.
