The Australian Apprenticeship Advisory Committee was established with the functions of considering and making recommendations in respect of all aspects of apprenticeship (other than wages and conditions); of arranging for the conduct of basis research and the compilation of statistics in matters affecting apprenticeship; of disseminating information to relevant authorities on Australian and overseas developments in apprenticeship and to the general public in order to create an appreciation of the importance of apprenticeship, for preparing trades which should be considered apprenticeable.
The Committee consists of a Chairman (the Secretary of Department of Labor and Immigration) and Executive Officer with Advisers to the Chairman, one from each of the following groups:
(1) Australian Government Education Matters
(2) Trade Union Matters
(3) Employer Association Matters
and representatives from the Australian Government and each of the States, the Northern Territory and the ACT.Historical agency address
