The Joint Standing Committee on the National Capital and External Territories conducts inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government. The Committee was established on the 29 September 2010. | The Committee was established to examine and report on all proposals for modification or variation to the plan of the City of Canberra and its environs and other matters relating to the Australian Capital Territory referred to it by the Minister for the Capital Territory or by resolution of either House of Parliament. Current Chair: Senator Louise Pratt (Australian Labor Party, WA)
