Series note
Description of series:
Miscellaneous Standing and Fighting Orders, Fort Record Books, Maps, Plans, Charts, Directions, etc., some correspondence of various Forts on New South Wales Coast embracing Sydney, Newcastle and Port Kembla defence areas during 1939-45 War.

History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
Prior to transfer: These records were originally created and
maintained at various Fortress Establishments. On their closure, records were returned to Signal Hill HQ, South Head Station, Sydney, where they were grouped and stored together. These records were retained following a Military Board of Review held at Signal Hill when many records were sentenced for destruction.
Subsequent to transfer: It is presumed that these records should be referred to the Australian War Memorial. It could be said that these records are duplicated at Eastern Command, but as this is a collected group it has much more value and should be retained permanently.
