This series comprises the records of the Eastern Region of Migrant Workers Accommodation Division up to January 1952 and those with continuing action of Commonwealth Hostels Ltd. up to April 1954. These records were also transferred from Commonwealth Hostels Ltd. to Department of Labour and National Service, Regional Office, Sydney and are the remains of severe culling. The records were transferred following a visit to Commonwealth Hostels Ltd. by the Registrar, Department of Labour and National Service. Files 20/1/1 in Set 1 and E/20/1/5 in Set 2 contain relevant information as well as Cabinet Agenda and decisions. Subsequent to transfer: As the records transferred are also records created by Commonwealth Hostels Ltd. (i.e. all correspondence after 26 Jan 1952) and the Department of Labour and National Service has ruled "no access", the Department has been requested to review access decision and to determine its legality in accepting the records of the Company.Administrative information
