History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
This Index was created in February, 1948 on instruction of the Secretary, Universities Commission, Central Office. Courses handled were of two types (1) University Faculty Courses and (2) University Type Courses eg. Dancing, Music, Nursing, Teaching, etc. One of the main reasons for this Index, at the height of the CRTS Scheme, was for the provision of various statistics and general information. This card is the equivalent of the Training History Card maintained by the Deputy Director's of Industrial Training in each State which has been classified for disposal after 40 years (see Disposal Schedule S.262). The CRTS Scheme fell to such small proportions in 1954 that the functions of administering CRTS. Trainees were transferred to Central Office (located in NSW) who combined later Trainees in their own Index. In 1948 information particulars and the old cards destroyed. This accounts for an actual date coverage 1944-1954 when the nominal date is 1948-1954. This set is complete.
