This series contains monthly reports prepared by Directors of the major departments of the Australian Broadcasting Commission. The reports were prepared for the information of the General Manager of the Commission, and content dates from the first (May 1937) report of the Programme Department. During the period covered by these records, the General Manager of the ABC was Charles (later Sir Charles) Moses.

The departments whose regular reports are contained within this series are: the Programme Department (and Traffic Section), Talks Department, Federal Productions Department (drama and features, and National Children's Session), School Broadcasts, Federal News Editor, Rural Broadcasts Section, Concert Department, and Light Entertainment.
