Description of series:
Personal files of individuals who were the subject of investigation by the Intelligence Section, General Staff or by the WA Police Department, acting on behalf of Intelligence, reports of the investigations made and the follow-up action in respect of internment, arrest, repatriation or continued observation.
Files are numbered consecutively from No 1 onwards. The papers contained in the files carry a number of three groups in addition to that of the file cover. These are thought to be cross-reference numbers placed on by the differing groups who carried out investigations. In some cases the single number registration has been prefixed by the letters 'PF'. This appears to mean personal file.
History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
The series was created by Intelligence Section, General Staff, 5th Military District, Western Australia and subsequent to the creation of the Commonwealth Investigation Branch (now known as Commonwealth Investigation Service) all files were transferred to their custody.
