This series consists of files covering the regional commands' administration, operations and activities. Most files were placed on backing sheets and are not in file covers. Some plain manila folders have been used, with the file title written on the outside, and some files have been placed in departmental filecovers at a later date. It would seem that the series has been subject to disposal action on at least two previous occasions. The first action has probably resulted in some records being transferred to the State Archives. There are few papers from the 1920's in the material transferred to Australian Archives, Tasmania. The second culling occurred in the mid 1960's, under a schedule issued for Southern Command records, and destructions were entered on the registration cards. (P618)
