Sir Earle Page Papers.
Function and purpose
This series mainly consists of typescript copies of
speeches given by Sir Earle Page between January 1947 and December 1961. Some press
statements and Hansard offprints of speeches Page made in the House of
Representatives are included. Apart from the latter, most of the remaining
speeches were given to educational institutions, community organisations,
agricultural shows, hospitals, professional associations, conferences and
conventions, both in his electorate of Cowper (NSW) and more widely, and to
Country Party meetings. Subjects covered include development in Northern New
South Wales, Clarence River hydro-electricity scheme, New State Movement,
University of New England, legislation before Parliament, National Health
Scheme, British Empire, visits, elections, water conservation, flood
protection, Country Party etc.

Typescript speeches in spring back folders. A label
pasted on the front cover of most folders carries the title ‘Speeches by Sir
Earle Page’.
System of arrangement and control
The speeches are arranged chronologically in a series
of folders which have been numbered [1] to [19] by National Archives. A
contents list can be found at the front of each folder.
