Function and purpose
This series consists of photographs and negatives of a
small number of papers collected by Senator Edward John Russell in the period
1906 to 1921. They include personal letters from Prime Ministers Andrew Fisher
and William Morris Hughes, leaflets from “Labor Call’’ and “The Australian
Worker”, a poem written by C J Dennis for Russell, election pamphlets (one
featuring John Curtin) and two certificates under seal appointing Russell to
the Federal Executive Council (1914) and the Wheat Storage Commission (1917).
Photographic copies of the original papers were made in 1998.
