Summary heading
Function and purpose
Series M3604 primarily comprises family papers concerning
Sir Joseph and Dame Mary Cook’s children, possibly gathered together by their
son, Cecil Cook. Of particular
relevance to Cecil Cook are his school reports and certificates from Newington
College, Stanmore, correspondence received from his mother Dame Mary, and
University of Sydney publications and programmes dating from the early 1920s.
Of significance to the Cook family generally are several
photographs including a group portrait of the Cook children taken about 1910
and unidentified wedding photographs possibly of the Cook’s daughter,
Winifred.
A couple of items in the series relate more specifically to
Dame Mary Cook, namely papers concerning her opening a Methodist Church craft
sale in North Staffordshire and an item of correspondence from Florence Amery.
