Function and
purpose
This
series consists of a mixed collection of motion picture films and a videotape
created by Cockatoo Island Dockyard. The
series comprises of 16mm composite prints, original negatives, reversal, a 35mm
composite print and a 1 inch video.
Several
films, relating to vessels constructed at Cockatoo Island, have been taken at
the Dockyard, while others have been made overseas. Many are undated; those
dated range from approximately 1936 to 1985, the launching of HMAS SUCCESS.
Since
no system of control was apparent, item numbers in the range [1] to [14] have
been imposed on reels by The National Archives of Australia.
This
series contains audiovisual formats. As audiovisual formats are either redundant or susceptible to
deterioration, some items in this series have been copied to ensure their
preservation.
