The twelve items in this series relate to the administration of the Commonwealth's involvement in International Women's Year. Mr Galvin was the Co-ordinator of the Secretariat which was established to support the National Advisory Committee for International Women's Year. It was in this capacity that Mr Galvin accumulated the documents about the Government's program for the year.
The documents in the series relate to the activities and projects of the Secretariat and National Advisory Committee, to Australian representation at overseas conferences and to the general administration of the Secretariat.
Mr Galvin was the Co-ordinator of the International Women's Year Secretariat for most of its duration. The series contains background and transactional papers generated, accumulated and used by Mr Galvin in the course of his appointment.
The twelve items in the series are about the Secretariat and its work in support of the National Advisory Committee for International Women's Year. The items relate to the day to day functioning of the Secretariat, for example, staffing and finance; to Australian representation at overseas conferences, for example, the United Nations Consultative Committee for the World Conference of the International Women's Year and to the projects organised in
Australia, for example, the Women and Politics Conference.
The papers were in no discernible order when received in custody. None of the items were numbered or otherwise controlled and only four of the twelve items had titles. Consequently a numbering system has been imposed by Australian Archives and file titles have been allocated where necessary.
