This series consists of photographs taken of J A Beasley, usually with constituents, other political figures, officials or dignitaries. The photographs cover the period from his appointment as President of the Electrical Trades Union of New South Wales in 1922, until his death while Australian High Commissioner to London in 1949. The series includes photographs of Beasley representing Australia at International Labour Organizations Conferences in Geneva (1926) and Philadelphia (1944); at Australian Labor Party functions and meetings, mainly in the 1930s; with Parliamentary Labor Party colleagues; as Minister for Supply during World War II; and as Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (1946-49). Apart from some family photographs, the series has few personal photographs. In general, they were taken by official photographers or for newspapers. The photographs are in chronological order, although this is not entirely consistent.
