This series consists of nine blue Smythson's "Featherweight" pocket sized annual diaries kept by Stanley Melbourne Bruce for the years 1930-35, 1937-38 and 1940. All the diaries have the same dimensions and appearance, although those for the years 1932 and 1935 have Bruce's initials 'S.M.B.' embossed in gold on the top left-hand corner of the front cover.
The diaries primarily cover the period when Bruce was Australian Minister in London (September 1932-October 1933) and subsequently Australian High Commissioner in London (October 1933-October 1945). The 1932, 1933 and 1934 diaries also have some entries relating to visits to Australia. The diaries mainly record meetings with individuals and organisations, conferences, official events and travel arrangements. Some telephone numbers and addresses are included.
