Series note
This series consists of one green leather-bound photograph album with 'Conference de Montreux 1936, Montreux-Palace' embossed in gold lettering on the front cover. Stanley Melbourne Bruce was President of the Montreux Conference while also President of the League of Nations Council. The Conference dealt with revision of the Straits Convention, especially regarding free passage and navigation through the Dardanelles and Bosphorus into the Black Sea. The album contains 17 sepia-toned photographs of delegates gathered at Conference sessions, delegates at a dinner function, empty meeting rooms of Montreux Palace, a communications or administration centre apparently servicing the Conference, a Turkish exhibition of photographs and rugs, and external views of the Palace.
