Series M103 consists of six folders containing correspondence, reports and copies of cablegrams concerning the outbreak of World War II and Australia's war aims and policies. The folders include correspondence and cables exchanged with Australian and British ministers and senior public servants.
Papers in the series relate to a range of war subjects such as the Empire Air Training Scheme, the air force capacities of various countries, the situation in Europe, the Far East and the Middle East, peace aims, Australian exports, industrial unrest in Australia, war propaganda, the Singapore Defence Conference, Anglo-American cooperation, enemy oil supplies, war strategy and war production.
These folders are similar in contents to Stanley Melbourne Bruce's monthly war files contained in series M100. However, as they were discovered in the mid-1960s by Bruce's Private Secretary after the monthly war files had been arranged and indexed, these files have been registered as a separate series of 'Supplementary War Files'
Each folder contains a chronological summary of contents.
