Series M102 consists of two loose-leaf folders each entitled 'Lord Bruce's Monthly War Files Index'. The folders, which are further designated 'No 1; June-Sept 1939 to Dec 1942' and 'No. 2; Jan 1943 to Aug 1945' respectively, contain carbon copies of typed indexes to Stanley Melbourne Bruce's monthly war files contained in series M100.
 
One index exists for each monthly war file (September 1939 - August 1945). Copies of these indexes can also be found at the front of each war file in M100. The indexes are arranged alphabetically, either by surname of correspondent or by topic.  Relevant documents and their dates are listed under each name or topic heading. At the end of each monthly index, are chronological listings of "cables outward" and "cables inwards" for that month. 

It would seem that these indexes were created some time after the creation of the files, however, as there is no evidence to conclusively ascertain the period in which the indexes were compiled, accumulation dates have been made the same as for the monthly war files themselves (1 September 1939 - 31 August 1945).
