Function and purpose

This series comprises folders of copies of inwards and outwards correspondence arranged in chronological order from 1955 to 1959. The correspondence comprises mainly copies of letters between the Cocos Islands Administration office and the Department of Territories office in Canberra. The inwards correspondence appears to be copies of the original letters sent to the Administration.

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands Administration office closed on 31 December 2003 and control of records was taken over by the Department of Transport and Regional Services, Perth Office (CA 8973).
