Function and purpose
These are the official working rolls for Federal Electoral Divisions of Western Australia, listing alphabetically, all persons eligible to vote in Commonwealth elections and Referenda.
The rolls are in computer print-out form showing name, address, occupation and sex of the elector. Each entry is preceded by a sequentially arranged number, each page is numbered and dated in the top right-hand corner. The lists indicate action in respect of additions and deletions, through death, change of address, change of name etc. and are up-dated every six months.
The Electoral Act stipulates that the rolls are to be kept by the Electoral Registrar and are compiled by Electoral staff in the relevant division. They are the responsibility of the Divisional Returning Officers, more commonly known as DROs. The rolls are housed in print-out binders, two separate black covers secured with a metal plate, plastic binders and metal slide fasteners.
