This series comprises name index cards for persons who were called up for enrolment to serve as members in the Civil Alien Corp in Western Australia (and Northern Territory). The cards include the names of persons who actually served and those who were exempted from serving. The cards provide for showing the following information: Alien's Index Card AW No. (if not exempted), surname, christian names, nationality, date called for enrolment, appeal lodged, grounds, temporary exemption granted on.......to........, examined by medical board on........, fit/unfit, exemption granted by manpower (date), enrolled, and remarks. All entries are usually not completed, those that are, are type written in. In most instances the date of birth is shown alongside the person's name. At the top left hand side of the cards there is a 'B.I. Cert.' number but it is not clear as to what this number means. On the reverse side of the cards is the heading 'Record of Jobs to which Directed', with date and particulars.
Related files to this series are held in accession PT143/1 but no cross indexing system is evident.
The records were created by the Allied Works Council, Western Australia which had responsibility over the Civil Alien Corp and the Civil Construction Corp.
