This series comprises name index cards for persons who were called up for enrolment to serve as members in the Civil Construction Corp in Western Australia (and Northern Territory). The cards include the names of persons who actually served and those who were exempted from serving. The cards provide for showing the following information: surname, christian names, date called for enrolment, appeal lodged, grounds, temporary exemption granted on.......to........, examined by medical board on........, fit/unfit, exemption granted (date), enrolled, CW number (if not exempted), and remarks. All entries are usually not completed, those that are, are type written in. At the top left hand side of the cards are entries which are either the persons' date of birth or age in years and 'M' or 'S' indicating married or single. At the top right hand side of the cards is usually a 'C/U' number, this is thought to be the Call Up number. On the reverse side of the cards is the heading 'Record of Jobs to which Directed', with date and particulars.
In some cases were a member's personal file exists (see PT143/1), the file number (single number) is written on the cards, usually in blue coloured pencil.
The records were created by the Allied Works Council, Western Australia which had responsibility over the Civil Alien Corp and Civil Construction Corp.
