Form (P2) entitled "Passenger List - Incoming Passengers" is prepared by the master of each ship entering the port and shows name of ship and other relevant details including Voyage, Port of Departure, Port of Disembarkation, Date of Disembarkation of Passengers - listed on the document of Townsville inwards.

Details include Name, Sex, Age, Marital Status, Occupation, Nationality, etc. The use of this form was discontinued in 1964. Location of other documents in the series is unknown.

This service is a conversion of the former accession BP72/2.

This series of records has been copied (in full or in part) by the National Archives as part of its reprographic program.

Duplicate copy J721/17 stored in PARS reserve. J721/7 – Ships Passenger Lists, Inwards, Townsville - as part of the Brisbane Office stocktake project 2009, this consignment was missing from the shelf in area 9/84/1/5/1. However 8 microfilm rolls (reference copies) are located in the Brisbane Office Reading Room. The microfilm boxes only indicate the series number and not a consignment number and therefore there is no indication as to whether consignment 7 is located there. As a result, consignment 7 located in Area 9 remains missing.

In 2017, the microfilm copy of this series was digitized and uploaded to National Archives of Australia RecordSearch database. The digital image can be viewed by clicking the RecordSearch 'Digital item" icon
