Function and purpose

This series consists of Maralinga policy and administrative files created by the Defence Security Branch. The records are controlled by a multiple number system with various alpha prefixes. The alpha prefix indicates which region created the record. YA - Adelaide, YS - Salisbury, YW - Woomera and MARA - Maralinga. The type of records contained within this series includes: conditions of service, safety matters, photography, projects, operations, procedures, passes, conferences, training, policy, accommodation, stores, transport, visits, firearms etc. The records range from unclassified to secret.
