This series of records consists of black and white photographs depicting various areas of Australia where defence exercises were carried out. The photographs show examples of non-European terrain being tropical, desert and farmland areas. Specific locations include Williamtown, Amberley, Woomera, Darwin and parts of Western Australia.
W.R.E developed a device called Kalori, which was a camera mounted in a dummy sidewinder missile. The camera pointed straight down taking photographs of the ground below. These photographs were compared with aerial photographs of the same areas and enabled aircraft positions to be more accurately identified.
The photographs are in boxes measuring 27cm x 27cm and are clearly labelled on the outside.
