Function and purpose
This series consists of a miscellaneous assortment of files, photographs,
volumes and loose papers relating to quarantine and health activities in
Australia but predominantly relating to the activities at the Quarantine
Station, Torrens Island. The collection was established by Allen Green, a
former Regional Director of the Commonwealth Department of Health, which had
responsibility for administering the quarantine function until 1984. The
collection requires further sorting to identify series contained in it.
