This series contains 22 logbooks which were used to record details of meteorological conditions and daily events at the lighthouse. Ruled in columns, they give details as follows: date, time, barometer reading, temperature, wind weather, water, name of keeper on duty and remarks. The remarks mostly relate to the state of the light and duties carried out by keepers. Not all of these logbooks are extant. Notably, volumes for the following periods are missing: 01 Dec 1877 to 30 Sep 1887 06 Mar 1891 to 12 Mar 1917 24 May 1919 to 20 Jul 1920 21 Jul 1921 to 30 Aug 1922 13 Sep 1923 to 22 Sep 1923 01 Jun 1927 to 07 Nov 1929 09 Mar 1931 to 18 Mar 1931 30 Jun 1932 only 01 Jan 1935 to 10 Apr 1940 07 Aug 1943 to 16 Aug 1943 17 Aug 1943 to 31 Oct 1946 01 Nov 1946 to 05 Nov 1946 29 Dec 1949 to 31 Dec 1949 01 Jul 1955 to 30 Sep 1955 The logbooks are fragile and are suffering from the following: Spine damage, mould, loose pages, fading ink and water damage. There are also microfiche copies of the logbooks covering the period 11 June 1858 to 30 November 1877 and 17 August 1943 to 19 June 1966.
