Function and purpose
CP503/1 is a collection of personal papers maintained by Richard Gavin Gardiner Casey, Baron Casey, dating from early in his political career. The series is an accumulation of documents, which refer to the issues of economic/financial interest to Australia and in some cases relate to Australia’s international financial position. It includes information Casey collected at the beginning of his time as Treasurer for the Lyons Government (1935). The records contain: correspondence, records of conversations, reports, articles and statistical data. A range of economic topics are covered, including: public finance, economic surveys, taxation, loans and banking and monetary commission papers.
