Description of series:
This series consists of the typescript copy of a letter from Joseph (Joe) Aloysius Lyons as Postmaster-General to Francis (Frank) Michael Forde, then Assistant Minister for Trade and Customs. The letter is a reply to a representation made by Forde on behalf of E S Morrow for his reappointment to the Postmaster-General's Department. Lyons, as Postmaster-General during the Depression, probably received many such representations relating to employment in this period.
Archivist's note:
The letter was transferred from the Prime Minister's Department to archival custody at the Kingston Store on 2 April 1947 and given the job number RW2/1/36. Between this date and 1953, when it was moved to the Archives Division's Parkes Annexe, it was given the accession number CP30 (ref. RWC2/8/2). The letter was in folder 30 (bundle 6) of appended list number 1. It was separated and accessioned as CP30 set 1 in August 1956, as recorded in a note accompanying the letter on file. The original general history note (form CA 17) for CP30 gives the reasons for this action. The series description was revised as part of the Prime Minister's Papers' Project in December 2001.
