Born 27 November 1948. Educated at St Lawrences College (Brisbane), St Edmunds College (Ipswich). Occupations prior to entering parliament include work at the Commonwealth Banking Corporation 1967 - 1980, also as a self-employed commercial finance consultant.
David Beddall was elected to the House of Representatives in 1983 as the Member for Fadden, Queensland. Re-elected following 1984 electoral redistribution for the seat of Rankin, Queensland, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1993 and 1996.
Mr Beddall had several ministerial appointments and represented several committees. He was a Member of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Science & Technology; the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence; and, the Joint Statutory Committees on Public Accounts and, Public Accounts and Audit, respectively.
From 1990-91, he was Minister for Small Business and Customs. From 1991-93, he was Minister for Small Business, Construction and Customs. In 1993 he was Minister for Communications and from 1993-96 he was Minister for Resources.
Peter Beddall retired from parliament prior to the general elections in October 1998.
