Photographs in this series are a miscellaneous collection from Commonwealth Hostels Limited.

Most items are unlabelled and undated. Staff of the National Archives have placed them in folders and imposed identification numbers in the range [1] to [18] on the folders.

A range of formats is included: colour transparencies, colour and black and white prints, a postcard and brochure. Subjects include hostel buildings, interiors, staff, food preparation and general scenes of residents.

It is thought that the earliest photographs in the series are those of Dutch migrants at Nelson's Bay in folder [1] which appear to date from 1951, and the latest dated items, in folder [13], are stamped 'June 1978' on the reverse.
